Submitting your data feed

Print

You have several options for submitting your data feed to Google Base:

  • Direct upload through the Google Base dashboard (Files under 20 MB in size)
  • File Transfer Protocol (FTP) (Files larger than 20 MB must upload using FTP)
  • Automatic upload via scheduling (Files under 15 MB in size)

Note: If you're submitting a compressed file, your file must be under 500 MB. If your file is larger than what our restrictions allow, please split your file into multiple, smaller files before uploading.

Direct Upload via Google Base

We recommend files smaller than 20 MB to be uploaded via the Google Base dashboard. It is easier to submit your file this way, and you're less likely to encounter errors commonly associated with FTP.

  1. Log in to your account and click the Data feeds tab. (Make sure you've already registered your filename in your account.)
  2. Locate your feed from the list of registered files. In the Uploads column, click the upload file link associated with the file you'd like to submit.
  3. In the pop-up window, click the Browse... button.
  4. Navigate to the folder on your computer where your feed is. Select the file you're submitting and click Open. The name of the file you selected will appear in the field to the left of the Browse... button. The filenames must match, so it is important to verify this.
  5. After you've verified your filenames match, click Upload and process this file.

The upload may take several minutes, depending on the size of your file and the speed of your Internet connection. Once your file has been uploaded, you'll see notification on your screen if the upload was a success. The status of any feed can be found in this Data feeds tab. It can take up to 24 hours for your file details to be updated in your account.

If you need to review any of the data feed instructions, just click on any of the tabs at the top to return to that step.

Get started: register and submit your data feed.
